2014 SEDS Leadership Conference

Welcome to the web page for the 2014 Students for the Exploration and Development of Space Leadership Conference.  This event will be held in Washington DC June 6th- 8th. 

 

Below is information about the event which will be updated as details become available.

 

Objectives:

  • Network - meet other emerging leaders from across the leadership structure of SEDS
  • Learn - gain insight into the context of commercial space, strategy formulation, and Game Theory
  • Impact - utilize lessons and perspectives gained to contribute to the future of SEDS

 

Overview:

This event is supported by the Emerging Space Industry Leaders workshop program. ESIL is a workshop series supported by the FAA Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation and coordinated by the University of Colorado at Boulder.  The intent of the workshop series is to bring together emerging industry leaders, foster collaboration, and provide tools to help shape the space industry of the future.  This is accomplished through speakers from industry, government, and academia as well as group activities.  These activities include both educational and social development.

 

Schedule (tentative):

  • June 6th:
    • 10 AM - 12 PM: tour and speakers at NASA Headquarters
    • 12 PM - 1:30 PM: break for lunch
    • 1:30 PM - 4 PM: tour and speakers at FAA Headquarters
    • 4 PM - 6 PM: tour and free-time at National Air and Space Museum
    • 6 PM - 8 PM: break for dinner
    • 8 PM - 10 PM: social networking event in conjunction with other DC young leaders
  • June 7th:
    • 9 AM - 5:30 PM invited speakers and work sessions (details to be announced shortly)
  • June 8th:
    • Free day to complete required activities and visit sites of DC 

 

Topic:

ESIL workshops are conducted around a specific topic.  For the SEDS Leadership Conference, hosted by ESIL, the specific topic that discussion and work will focus on is the development of strategic direction for the SEDS-USA organization.  Analysis will utilize a structured approach based on game theory to evaluate the environment in the non-profit student segment and look for key areas that would enable future growth and impact. 

 

Details:

  • RSVP - this event is open to invited participants only.  ALL invited attendees MUST RSVP and complete the registration process to be included in the activities.  
  •  Registration - a registration fee of $25 will be collected from confirmed attendees to partially offset the cost of hosting this workshop and to hold confirmed attendees spot
  • Attendance - attendees are expected to participate in the entire workshop.  A core component of ESIL workshops is networking and teamwork.
