Welcome to the web page for the 8th Emerging Space Industry Leaders Workshop (ESIL-08). 

 

ESIL-08 was held on April 1-2, 2016 in collaboration with United Launch Alliance in Denver Colorado.

 

Below is information about the workshop which will be updated as details become available.

 

At-A-Glance Details:

  • What: Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation Eighth Emerging Space Industry Leaders Workshop (COE CST ESIL-08), a two-day workshop including a mix of presentations, discussion, and active working sessions, culminating in a final presentation of results at the end of the second day and the possibility of a participant-led conference paper for presentation at a later date.
  • When: Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, 2016.
  • Where: United Launch Alliance
  • Who: Registered participants. The registration form is included on this page below. There is a registration fee of $25.
  • Why: Introduction to game theory-based industry structure analysis of the resource potential within cis-lunar space.
  • Dress Code: Business Casual
 

Objectives:

  • Network - meet other emerging leaders from across the space industry
  • Learn - gain insight into the context of commercial space, strategy formulation, and Game Theory
  • Impact - utilize lessons and perspectives gained to contribute to the space industry

 

Overview:

  • ESIL is a workshop series supported by the FAA Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation and coordinated by the University of Colorado at Boulder. ESIL-08 is being conducted with the support of United Launch Alliance.
  • The intent of the workshop series is to bring together emerging industry leaders, foster collaboration, and provide tools to help shape the space industry of the future.  This is accomplished through lectures from industry, government, and academia as well as group activities. These activities include both educational and social development.

 

Topic:

  • ESIL workshops are conducted around a specific topic.  For ESIL-08 the specific topic is cis-lunar resource utilization. 
  • The working group activities will utilize a structured approach based on game theory to evaluate the environment in this industry segment and look for key areas that would enable future commercial space transportation growth.

  • Application - all prospective attendees must apply through the form below.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.  Applicants can expect to hear back on applications within 24 hours.
  • Registration - a registration fee of $30 is collected from confirmed attendees to partially offset the cost of hosting this workshop and to hold confirmed attendees spot
  • Attendance - attendees are expected to participate in the entire workshop.  A core component of ESIL workshops is networking and teamwork.
