- What: Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation Ninth Emerging Space Industry Leaders Workshop (COE CST ESIL-09), a two-day workshop including a mix of presentations, discussion, and active working sessions, culminating in a final presentation of results at the end of the second day and the possibility of a participant-led conference paper for presentation at a later date focused on evaluating the viability of different commercial space activities.
- When: Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, 2016.

- Why: Introduction to game theory-based industry structure analysis of the orbital space traffic management industry.

Objectives:
- Network - meet other emerging leaders from across the space industry
- Learn - gain insight into the context of commercial space, strategy formulation, and Game Theory
- Impact - utilize lessons and perspectives gained to contribute to the space industry
Overview:
- ESIL is a workshop series supported by the FAA Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation and coordinated by the University of Colorado at Boulder. ESIL-09 is being conducted with the support of Secure World Foundation.
- The intent of the workshop series is to bring together emerging industry leaders, foster collaboration, and provide tools to help shape the space industry of the future. This is accomplished through talks from industry, government, and academia as well as group activities. These activities include both educational and social development.
Topic:
- ESIL workshops are conducted around a specific topic. For ESIL-09 the specific topic is orbital space traffic management.
- The working group activities will utilize a structured approach based on game theory to evaluate the environment in this industry segment and look for key areas that would enable future commercial space transportation growth.
